Meet Jennifer Fisher!


Jennifer graduated from Chesterton High School, where she was a member of the Lincoln-Douglas Debate Team, in 1998. Thereafter, she earned a Bachelors Degree in Biological Science, with Academic Distinction, from Purdue University Calumet. Jennifer next obtained her law degree, with honors, from Valparaiso Law School and now practices at Hinshaw & Culbertson, LLP.

Throughout both her academic and professional career, Jennifer has committed to serving others through her church and numerous community and volunteer activities, often founding and leading organizations intended to improve the community and lives of others.

Jennifer loves her family, her community, and the people in it. She is the proud mother of two sons, Leo and Alex, an active member of the community, and a natural born helper.

Professional Background


Jennifer graduated from Chesterton High School, where she was a member of the Lincoln-Douglas Debate Team, in 1998. Thereafter, she earned a Bachelors Degree in Biological Science, with Academic Distinction, from Purdue University Calumet. Throughout her undergraduate career, she was a member of the Dean's List nearly every quarter and the recipient of numerous state merit scholarships. In addition, she was the recipient of numerous awards including the Exceptional Student Award from Purdue's School of Engineering Math and Science, and recipient of the Outstanding Student Award from Purdue's Department of Biological Sciences. 

After earning her Bachelor’s Degree, Jennifer obtained a Law Degree, with Honors, from Valparaiso Law School. While attending law school, Jennifer served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable John R. Pera, Chief Judge, Lake County Superior Court, for eighteen months. In addition, she clerked for the Honorable Diane Kavadias-Schneider, Senior Judge, Lake County Superior Court; for twelve months. She also served as a federal extern to the Honorable Christopher A. Nuechterlein, Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Indiana, for three months, and completed a family law internship through which she worked with a Schererville based law firm and shadowed both Lake and Porter County Superior and Circuit Court judges. Jennifer was also a member of Valparaiso Law School’s Law Review Team, from which she earned the Dedicated Service Award for her writing, editing, and mentoring skills. 

Jennifer is now a licensed Indiana Attorney practicing at the law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson, LLP.  In this capacity, Jennifer helps clients protect their interests in an extensive range of both state and federal litigation. Her practice is focused on consumer finance litigation, personal injury and property damage, medical malpractice, and legal malpractice.  Jennifer regularly works with a diverse range of people, business owners, financial institutions, and municipalities concerning claims involving real estate, business development, code violations, and lending laws. In addition, as part of her personal injury and property damage practice, she defends clients against high-profile medical malpractice; premises liability; product liability; and other areas involving complex litigation. Jennifer takes an aggressive approach in analyzing claims, identifying matters that are likely to be problematic, assessing liability, formulating effective case strategies, and accomplishing expeditious, just, and optimal resolutions for her clients.

Community & Volunteer Work


Throughout both her academic and professional career, Jennifer has committed to serving others through her church and numerous community and volunteer activities, often founding and leading organizations intended to improve the community and lives of others. While at Purdue University Calumet, she worked with Chemistry faculty members to found an academic outreach program for underprivileged public school children. This program was developed to help open unique opportunities for mentoring, tutoring, and research to children interested in pursuing higher education degrees in science. While at Valparaiso Law School, she founded and served as president of the Parents Attending Law School student organization. This organization was founded to create a student-run support network geared towards the unique challenges faced by parents balancing the demands of law school and parenting. She currently volunteers her time to work with woman in the Porter County Jail through the God Pod Program. In addition to various other outreach and community efforts, summary of Jennifer’s community/volunteer work is below:

Personal Background


Jennifer is a long term Chesterton resident who loves her community and the people in it. She is a  proud mother of two sons, Leo and Alex, who she loves dearly. Her sons attend Chesterton public schools and play football for Chesterton’s Pop Warner and Middle School teams.  Jennifer is a member of Road To Life Church in Chesterton, Indiana, where she serves and participates in various outreach ministry programs aimed at helping others. She loves working with a diverse group of people, the beach, political philosophy, and cooking. She is a truth seeker, peacemaker, problem solver, encourager, who loves to help others succeed.
